The Panhellenic Federation of Gas Traders tendered a request to the Minister of Shipping Giannis Plakiotakis so that the Transport Equivalent (a subsidy for travel given to inhabitants of some islands) on liquid fuels, so far given to businesses should be extended to benefit residents of Crete, with the resumption of the measure for 2021.
The Minister of Shipping informed the federation that a comprehensive study is being prepared by the Center for Planning and Economic Research for all Greek islands and there will be a comprehensive regulation.
The implementation of the Island Cost Compensation (ANIKO) to the beneficiaries having a Unique Islander Number (MAN) and/or Unique Island Company Number (MANE) for 2021 will start soon with the issuance of a relevant joint decision of the Ministers of Finance and Development.
From the date of publication in the Government Gazette, the measure will apply except for the 34 islands in which the first phase of the pilot implementation was completed, and for eight additional islands with gas stations, namely Agistri, Ammouliani, Elafonisos, Ithaca, Meganisi, Paxos, Schinoussa, and Koufonisia.
The relevant Information System has been undertaken by the National Network of Technology and Research Infrastructures and includes a mobile phone application through which one can register the receipts of the supply of eligible liquid fuels as well as the corresponding MAN or MANE of the customers who supply the fuel.
