The construction sector saw the beginning of 2021 with favorable prospects, as according to the latest data of the Hellenic Statistical Authority, there was an increase of 6.6% in the number of building permits in January, by 3.9% in terms of area and by 3.8% in terms of volume, compared to the corresponding month of 2020.
Specifically, the issued permits for private construction activity, in the whole country, during the month of January 2021 amounted to 1,441, which correspond to an total surface area of 266.8 thousand m2 and 1,078.8 thousand m3 of volume.
In the last 12 months, ie from February 2020 to January 2021, private construction activity in the whole country has shown an increase of 6.4% in the number of issued building permits, by 6.7% in terms of area and by 4, 1% in terms of volume, compared to the corresponding period February 2019 – January 2020. The percentage of participation of public construction activity in the total building volume, for the above period, is 2.3%.
