Government spokeswoman Aristotelia Peloni referred to the developments in Greek-Turkish in the aftermath of the “hot incident” between Nikos Dendias and Mevlut Cavusoglu.
During the briefing of political reporters, Ms. Peloni pointed out that Greece wants open channels of communication with Turkey, emphasizing, however, that it demands from the neighbor respect for international law.
As she said, Athens submitted 15 points of cooperation with Ankara, which were accepted, and the next steps are expected. “Greece seeks open channels of communication with Turkey and seeks to consolidate a positive climate that will allow the reduction of tensions and the adoption of a positive agenda.”
According to her, the “government” is working for peace and seeks cooperation with the country’s neighbors. It is moving with national confidence, prudence, and determination. “It proved it both with its strong stance in Evros and with Turkey’s delinquent behavior in the Eastern Mediterranean.”
At the same time, she confirmed the incident with the French research vessel and the Turkish frigate south of Crete in an area of Greek domination, while she left an open window for a possible meeting of Kyriakos Mitsotakis with Tayyip Erdogan.
