S&P Global Ratings upgraded Greece’s credit rating on Friday, while raising the outlook to positive from stable, a development that elicited satisfaction by the center-right government.

In a subsequent statement in Athens, Greek FinMin Christos Staikouras said the upgrade marks the second time that the S&P firm raised Greece’s rating amid the ongoing pandemic.

«This is, undoubtedly, a exceptionally significant and positive event for the Greek economy, and due to the planning and implementation of proper policies in the economic field and, in general, to the effectively of the government’s policy, as well as to a series of reforms», Staikouras said.

He also echoed S&P report by pointing to the Greek economy’s strong growth prospects and rates, ones expected to surpass the European average in the next three-year period.
