A strong lead of 14.6% for the ruling New Democracy (ND) party in the intention to vote is recorded by a nationwide Interview poll conducted on behalf of Politic.gr.
In the poll, ND garnered 36.7% of the respondents’ preference, SYRIZA 22.1%, while KINAL 6.7% and is in third place.
The poll was conducted from April 19 to 22 and according to this, the new Parliament, if elections were held tomorrow, would remain a six-party house. At the same time, when asked who is the most suitable from prime minister between Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Alexis Tsipras, the current prime minister records double acceptance rates with a resounding 48% compared to the 24% that Alexis Tsipras got.
Dendias is a big winner
As for the tiff between Nikos Dendias and Mevlüt Cavusoglu in Ankara, the poll shows overwhelming acceptance of the Greek Foreign Minister’s stance, as 86% applaud the answers he gave to the challenges posed by his Turkish counterpart.
In fact, Mr. Dendias wins 71% of the public opinion when asked about his course so far as Minister of Foreign Affairs in an obvious applause of the entire foreign policy pursued by the Mitsotakis Government.
Particularly interesting is the attitude of Greek public opinion towards Turkey and especially towards the person of Tayyip Erdogan, 85% of the respondents agree with the characterization “dictator” given to him by the new Prime Minister of Italy, Mr. Mario Draghi.
What citizens say about retail and the lockdown
Opinions are divided on the implementation of the lockdown as 51% of respondents answer that the bans do not work because they are not implemented properly while an estimated 40% say they do not work as the measures imposed are no longer applicable.
Regarding the restart of the economy announced by the Prime Minister for the crucial month of May, the vast majority of respondents (77%) are asking for the end of measures like click away and click in shop, and want retail to open up and operate normally using the necessary individual protection measures.
