
New Democracy is maintaining a steady lead in the latest Marc poll with the ruling party dominating the center.
After 22 months of governing and 15 months of managing the pandemic, the previously recorded fatigue of the citizens is giving way to a slight improvement in the percentages of those supporting the ruling party and the popularity of the prime minister while the citizens disapprove of main opposition SYRIZA for its opposition tactics.
The data that emerge when reading the figures on the intention to vote (by reduction on valid votes), where New Democracy with 39.3% maintains a strong lead of 16.6 percentage points over SYRIZA which has 22.7%. Without the reduction on valid votes, the difference is at 15.4%, with ND having a percentage of 36.4%, compared to 21% for SYRIZA.
Examination of the poll findings highlights the crucial role played by voters placed in the center. ND has a majority with 42.2% while SYRIZA with only 12.2% comes third, behind the Movement for Change which receives a percentage of 14.4%
In the poll published by Proto Thema, the picture in the “battle” between Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Alexis Tsipras as to who is a more suitable prime minister is similar, with Mr. Mitsotakis garnering 51.3% of respondents as against 22% of the president of SYRIZA.
It is characteristic that the prime minister enjoys the preference of 85.1% of the ND voters, of 75.4% of those who voted for the Movement for Change, and of 17.3% of those who voted for SYRIZA.
On the contrary, Mr. Tsirpas gathers only 56.7% of the preference of those who voted for his party in the last elections and is clearly behind Mr. Mitsotakis in the impact he has on the voters of the other opposition parties.
The main opposition seems to be “paying” for its choices in the polls, as 77.3% disapprove of its tactics so far, while 53.4% of citizens positively judge the government’s work.
Impressive is the finding according to which the negative opinions about the main opposition prevail even among the voters who voted for SYRIZA in the previous elections.
Citizens give a positive rating to the government regarding the management of the pandemic, with the exception of those between the ages of 17 and 44, as well as those who declare themselves leftists. The majority of citizens seem to approve of the measures taken in view of Easter as 44.7% state that they were what they should be, compared to 33.3% who found them excessive, but also 16.9% who wanted them to be even more strict.
Finally, the government’s ratings for the organization of the vaccination program are high as 66.2% consider that they are going very well compared to 32.2% who give a negative answer.
