The estimate that at least 800,000 Serbian tourists will visit Greece for holidays this year, said Serb Ambassador to Athens Dusan Spasojevic speaking on First Program and in the show “The GPS of the news”.
“Two years ago, 2 million Serb tourists visited Greece. This year, 800,000 Serbs will come. They are a large number, maybe more. There is great interest in Greece,” he said.
He added that “they really feel safe and at home in Greece”, noting that his fellow citizens “have confidence in the country, in the government, in the Greek people.”
“The governments of Serbia and Greece took care in time to create the conditions for this year’s tourist season. “Greece is the most popular destination for Serbian citizens, and we really missed the country,” Mr Spasojevic said. He added that a digital certificate of mutual recognition, which is accepted in both countries, has already entered into force.
As he explained, Serbia is one of the few countries whose citizens can and do visit Greece, as the vaccination in the neighboring country went extremely well and Serbs can travel safely to Greece. Answering a related question, the Serbian ambassador said that more than 50% of the population in Serbia has been vaccinated, and estimated that by June, that number will be higher.
