Emirates launched its daily flights from Athens to Newark Liberty International Airport in New York on June 1, offering Greece’s only daily direct connection to the United States throughout the year. The importance of this connection is twofold, as on the one hand it offers the opportunity to Greeks to travel easily to the USA. Additionally, it is a convenient connection for travelers heading to the Middle East, West Asia, and Africa via Dubai.
A symbolic meeting for the resumption of flights was attended at the “Eleftherios Venizelos” airport by the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Greece, His Excellency Sulaiman Al Mazroui, the Director of Emirates for Greece and Albania, Mr. Khalid Al Zarooni and Director of Communication and Marketing of Athens International Airport, Mrs. Ioanna Papadopoulou.
On the occasion of the resumption of the extremely important flight, Mr. Khalid Al Zarooni, said: “At Emirates we are very proud of the re-establishment of the daily direct connection Athens – New York and optimistic for the rapid restoration of our destination network. Through the connection of Greece and the USA offered by Emirates facilitates Greek trade and consumer movements and supports tourism in practice “.
