Denmark lifts travel restrictions for Greece

Denmark has decided to lift travel restrictions for Greece, in an extremely important development for Greek tourism as a result of Tourism Minister Haris Theoharis’ contacts in the country.

During his meeting with Theoharis in Copenhagen, Deputy Foreign Minister and Executive Director of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Erik Brøgger Rasmussen announced that “the Danish government has decided to lift restrictions for Danish citizens wishing to travel to Greece. In the first phase, in the following days, the movements to the Peloponnese will allowed without restrictions. Then, from June 26, the restrictive measures to any destination in Greece will be lifted.”

Commening on the Danish government’s decision, the Tourism Minister said: “We are particularly pleased with Denmark’s initiative to lift travel restrictions to our country. This is a development that stems from the data, which show a steady decline in health risks. At the same time, the liberalisation of tourist travel between Denmark and Greece is an immediate demonstration of trust and a practical reward for the efforts made in our country for the meticulous implementation of health protocols. Above all, however, the decision of the Danish government to resume travel to Greece is an example which, we estimate, will soon be followed by many other countries.”
