Fuel prices have been on the rise lately.
Expensive fuels are a concern, especially in the run-up to the summer holidays when consumer movements are denser and consumption is higher.
Fuel prices are already much higher in several more remote areas or on the islands, exceeding even 2 euros per liter in the Cyclades for unleaded 100 octane due to increased transport and increased traffic due to summer.
According to the weekly price bulletin of the Ministry of Development, while in Attica we can find gasoline at 1.64 euros / liter, whoever visits the Cyclades will find it difficult to find prices lower than 1.90 euros / liter for 95-octane gasoline. The Cyclades is also the prefecture with the highest price for 100-octane gasoline with an average price of over 2 euros / liter.
In the Dodecanese, which are further away from Athens but also from the Cyclades, the average price of 95-octane gas is lower at 1.8 euros / liter, while gasoline is much cheaper in remote and faraway Greek islands such as Corfu (1 , 72 euros / liter), Chios (1.67 euros / liter) and Lesvos (1.76 euros / liter). In Evritania, the prices of regular unleaded have reached 1.75 euros.
The average price of unleaded 100 octane gas in the whole country has reached 1.84 euros per liter, super at 1.7 euros per liter and diesel at 1.3 euros per liter.
Gasoline is fueling inflation
At the same time, inflation in Greece stood at 1% in June compared to -1.6 in the corresponding month last year. According to ELSTAT data, the increase is mainly due to the increases in electricity, gas and fuel prices.
