Greece has attracted 2.3 million tourists so far in 2021, with approximately 412,000 of the latter being German nationals – the top group – according to the relevant tourism ministry on Monday.
The Polish market has been the biggest surprise, however, with roughly 202,000 citizens from that country choosing Greece so far for their vacation.
According to Deputy Tourism Minister Sofia Zaharaki, roughly 100,000 arrivals from the United States have been recorded.
Zaharaki said arrivals in pandemic-battered 2020 were down by 78.2 percent compared with 2019, or 7,406 million arrivals in absolute terms, down from 34 million arrivals the previous year.
