
Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias, who is visiting Israel, met on Wednesday with his Israeli counterpart Yair Lapid.
The meeting focused on the excellent level of the Greek-Israeli relations and on the latest developments in the eastern Mediterranean and in the Middle East, the Foreign Ministry posted on twitter.
Expanded talks between the Greek and Israeli delegations under visiting Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias and his Israeli counterpart Yair Lapid were held earlier on Wednesday in Israel. The meeting focused on the strengthening of the bilateral ties in all fields as well as the recent Turkish illegal actions while the two parts reaffirmed their solidarity with Cyprus. They also discussed EU relations with Israel, the Foreign Ministry posted on twitter.
Later, Dendias will visit Cyprus where is expected to be received by Cyprus Republic President Nicos Anastasiades. He will also meet with his counterpart Nikos Christodoulides and with the mayor of Famagusta Simos Ioannou. Dendias and Christodoulides will make joint statements to the press at about 14:00.
This visit, one day after the 47th anniversary from the Turkish invasion of Cyprus, is part of the efforts for the solution of Cyprus issue according to UN’s Safety Council Treaties and of the European Acquis, namely a bizonal, bicommunal federation.
Τhe close coordination against the illegal Turkish behaviour will also be discussed.
