Two basketball courts within a small sports complex in the working class central Athens district of Sepolia, where NBA superstar and current champion Giannis Antetokounmpo was born and raised, will undergo a thorough renovation.
The decision was announced this week by the municipality of Athens culture, sports and youth department, and in cooperation with Disney, which recently shot a portion of a film on the early lives of the Antetokounmpo brothers.
The complex for years hosted the neighborhood basketball club Tritonas Sepolia, where the Milwaukee Buck power forward and 2021 NBA finals MVP got his start.
A new and massive mural of Giannis Antetokounmpo will also be painted at the site.
