The Greek Minister of Civil Protection, Michalis Chrisochoidis, announced the new plan for dealing with the heatwave and the fire outbreaks.
The Greek Minister stated that the Fire Brigade is on full alert, as indicates the new “Iolaos” plan, to come up against any fire outbreaks, while the Greek firms and the competent ministries are on standby to deal immediately with any power and water outages.
The Police will also enter the “battle” and will conduct continuous patrols throughout the territory in order to detect any outbreaks of fire.
At the same time, Mr. Chrisochoidis appealed to the citizens for targeted use of water and electricity. The health system is on standby, as is the Emergency Aid Center.
The Minister invited also the citizens to avoid using the emergency lane.
The Ministry of Interior is expected to announce measures for the protection of the vulnerable groups, while the Ministry of Labor will make new announcements for the protection of the employees during the heatwave.
