Evia – Fire in a forest area in Platana – Fiery resurgence

A fire started at noon on Wednesday in Platana, Evia, in the municipality of Kymi – Aliveri.

The fire is burning a forest area while 7 vehicles with 15 firefighters are operating at the spot.

Strong forces of the fire brigade are rushing to the area to try and limit the spread of the front, while the deputy mayor of Kymi-Aliveri has also rushed.

The winds that are blowing in the are are not stronga.

Resurgence of fires in the coastal zone from Agia Anna to Agriovotano occupy the firefighters in the fire of Northern Evia. Thus, we have continuous resurgences and in fact dangerous ones in Agriovotano, in Elliniko, in Agios Nikolaos, Psaropouli and Vasilika, while smaller ones exist in Panagia Dinious, in the settlement of Athena in Asmini, in Galatsades, Avgaria and Kamatriades.

Especially in Kamatriades, a great battle has been fought since yesterday to stop the flames in a steep area from advancing into the oak forest called “Telethrio” because from there the flames will end up in Edipsos and Oreoi.

In addition to the ground forces of the Fire Brigade, from very early in the morning, the air force is constantly flying in areas in order to deal with the re-ignitions.

At the same time, however, many of the fire hydrants in the villages from Agia Anna to Agriovotano no longer draw water due to a power outage. That is why an order was given and a while ago a tanker made its appearance on Psaropouli beach, transporting water so that it could supply the aquifers and they in turn could fill the fire brigade vehicles.

Finally, hundreds of soldiers from the Army and Air Force arrived shortly before noon and have already headed to various areas to deal with the small outbreaks.
