The extension of the tourist season as well as the increase of foreign visitors in the country in 2022 are the goals of the new Minister of Tourism, Vassilis Kikilias. His predecessor Haris Theocharis left the government.
The goal of the new leadership of the Ministry of Tourism is to protect the country’s brand as a safe destination despite the spread of the pandemic.
A big bet is the extension of the tourist season. That is, to maintain travel demand at least for the whole of September and for as long as possible in October.
The Minister of Tourism will give special importance to the advertising promotion of Greece abroad.
Everything, of course, will depend on the health data, although according to government officials there is no question of a new lockdown, the launch of the dispersal and the Delta mutation, may overturn the data.

I was born in Athens on May 15, 1974 to two wonderful parents, Panagiotis and Maria Kikilia. They were the first to teach me that in life we set realistic goals and make a constant effort to achieve them.
A graduate of the Leontio Lyceum of Nea Smyrni, a basketball player at Panionios, AEK and the National Teams, a graduate of the Medical School of the University of Athens, with a postgraduate degree from the National School of Public Health and a Doctor of the Medical School , sums up my athletic, academic and professional career to date.
Engaging with the public stems from a personal need to contribute with faith, perseverance and seriousness to every effort that can create better conditions for all of us, but also for the new generations. In such a difficult period, we must all play an active role in the public of our homeland. It is the least we can do. We have a responsibility and a debt to our fellow human beings, to our own country.

In 2006 I was elected Municipal Councilor in the Municipality of Athens and then I took over as President of the Youth and Sports Organization of the Municipality of Athens. In 2010, as a candidate for Attica Regional Governor, I became the leader of the Major Opposition of the Attica Region. At the same time I am taking over the duties of the Deputy Secretary of the New Democracy Program.
In 2012 I was elected in A ‘Athens with New Democracy and from June 10, 2014 to January 2015 I was Minister of Public Order and Citizen Protection.
In the elections of January and September 2015, I am re-elected MP of Athens A with New Democracy.
From January to November 2016, I was the New Democracy Immigration Policy Coordinator.
On November 18, 2016, I was appointed spokesperson for New Democracy.
On October 13, 2017, I took over the duties of Head of National Defense of the New Democracy.
On July 9, 2019, I was appointed by the Prime Minister Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis Minister of Health.
