The issue of where renowned Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis will be buried has landed in the courts, with a first instance court in Athens on Friday issuing at temporary injunction forbidding any interment until at least Monday, when a judge will be called upon to decide between relatives of the late maestro and an desire by latter to be buried in Crete.

Theodorakis’ close relatives made it known that they want to bury the composer’s body in the Vrahati municipality in Corinth prefecture, west of Athens. The renowned artist and political activist died on Thursday in Athens at the age of 96.

However, executors of Theodorakis’ last will and testament countered that he wanted to be interred in the historic village of Galata, on Crete, where he father’s family hails from.
