Mytilineos, a member of the Enel Group, signed an agreement with Enel Green Power Romania SRL. for the sale of a portfolio of solar energy projects with a capacity of approximately 90MW in Romania, consisting of two photovoltaic parks that are expected to be put into commercial operation at the end of 2022 / beginning of 2023.
The projects are being developed in collaboration with Renergy Power Plants, a well-established renewable energy project development company with significant experience in Europe, Asia and South America. The RSD Sector will undertake the further development and construction of the projects.
These photovoltaic parks are located in the Southern Region of Romania, near Bucharest. Specifically, the largest project is Calugareni, a 63 MW Ready to Build (RTB) photovoltaic park, construction of which is expected to begin by the end of 2021. The remaining 26MW is under development.
Nikos Papapetrou, General Manager of MYTILINEOS RSD Sector, said: “This new transaction in Romania fills us with enthusiasm as it is an important milestone in our development strategy in Europe. We are one of the first companies to invest in solar energy in the country, as Romania has great potential for the development of RES, and we are really proud to contribute to the energy transition of the country. We are also happy for this strategic agreement with Enel Green Power Romania and we intend to promote the cooperation of the two companies “.
The companies that provided consulting services to MYTILINEOS were Ernst & Young LLP (Energy Law) and Volciuc-Ionescu.
At the same time, MYTILINEOS, through the RSD Sector and the development platform of photovoltaic projects and energy storage projects, is completing the electrification processes of approximately 118 MW of photovoltaics in Australia and 3.5 MW in Cyprus, which will contribute to the financial results of the second 2021. These actions are carried out in the context of the management of a portfolio of 4GW total capacity at various stages of development, in the Iberian Peninsula, Italy, the United Kingdom, Cyprus, Romania, Chile, Australia and South Korea for which it is evaluating the possibility of sale, or the possibility of integrating part of it in its Areas of Activity.
