Interventions are coming to ensure transparency in the configuration of electricity tariffs. This was announced by the president of the Energy Regulatory Authority, Athanasios Dagoumas, speaking at the TIF at TIF.
Specifically, Mr. Dagoumas clarified that the goal is for the providers to have a fixed rate that will not change for a certain period of time and to keep a floating rate, so the contracted consumers know exactly when they will expect the retail rate to change.
Referring to the price increases in electricity, the President of the Regulatory Authority stressed that “ERA has taken the necessary initiatives, with full responsibility and with a primary concern for consumer protection”, adding that “our information tells us that the Prime Minister will announce enough generous measures to deal with price increases.
He also referred to the new myRAE platform, which went live on Friday, where consumers will be able to lodge complaints about electricity providers’ tariffs and clauses.
According to Mr. Dagoumas, this platform, following the Price Comparison Tool, will enable the Regulatory Authority to intervene in a timely manner.
It is true that many consumers are complaining, Mr. Dagoumas admitted, adding that tomorrow he will be able to officially announce the details of the new tool, which was designed together with the Consumer Ombudsman.
