A series of interventions and an overall framework for how the Greek government perceives the reforms and the new development cycle that is opening up, will be presented by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in his speech tonight at the 85th Thessaloniki International Fair, as he said during his greeting at the general assembly of the Central Union of Chambers.
“This development should have different characteristics from the development we have experienced in the past. This will be a growth with more investment, more extroversion with an emphasis on the challenge of climate change and digital transformation,” said the prime minister.
Referring to the government, he stressed that “a center-right government did not hesitate to spend significant resources to shield the country in the face of an unprecedented health and economic crisis.”
He asked the business world to have confidence in the Greek government but also in the prospects of the Greek economy, which he characterized as “auspicious”.
“There may still be concerns, but I can tell you with absolute certainty that we are at the beginning of a large, important development cycle for our country. And the big challenge for the government is for this development to be a development for all and for the development dividend to primarily concern the new generation.”
Mr. Mitsotakis said he was satisfied because the participants in the general assembly recognized the support provided by the government to businesses during the pandemic.
The Refundable Advance Payment is the most successful, fast and effective measure, the Prime Minister noted.
The president of the Central Union of Chambers, Giannis Chatzitheodosiou, thanked Mr. Mitsotakis for his presence and said that it is the first time that a prime minister attends the general assembly of the Union.
