Kyriakos Mitsotakis was asked about the issue of BOAK (Northern Road Axis of Crete) in the ongoing press conference at the Thessaloniki International Fair. The Prime Minister was asked to give answers regarding the fact that the final cost of BOAK will exceed the budget, noting that the issue of the modern highway has occupied Crete for decades as well as from where funding will be secured.
In his answer, the Prime Minister noted that he does not have the detailed data at his disposal, but reminded that a detailed presentation was made in Chania, for the concession contract, the partnership between the private and public sector, for the part that will be built first and the ways of financing.
What the concession contract includes
Obviously, the part of the concession agreement will include tolls and will be at the same level of tolls that all Greeks pay for the use of modern highways throughout Greece, said Mr. Mitsotakis. He added: “I would not consider it reasonable for Crete to be excluded and this will not happen because the financial cost would rise too much.
Of course, Crete should not have waited fifty years, but I have not ruled for fifty years”, the prime minister said characteristically.
