“We are moving much better as concerns revenue,” said Sofia Zacharaki, Deputy Minister of Tourism, speaking at the OT.gr stand at the Thessaloniki International Fair referring to the course of this year’s tourist traffic, emphasizing that the average expenditure per tourist is much higher than in 2019.
The need for the development of different forms of tourism, such as religious tourism, wellness tourism and medical tourism, conference tourism, athletic tourism, etc., was stressed Ms. Zacharaki.
In addition, tourism development programs are carried out throughout Greece that highlight other forms of tourism, such as gastronomic and wine tourism, in connection with visitable dairies, breweries, olive mills, etc. Tourists that come for gastronomic tourism leave 37% more money than what would have been spent if the experience had not been enriched.
For this year we will have a small extension until the beginning of November, especially for the Aegean islands and Crete, as the weather allows, said the Deputy Minister of Tourism.
