SYRIZA MP, Nikos Pappas, criticized the Greek government, which he accuses of inaction and delay in the completion of major projects, speaking at the stand of OT at the Thessaloniki International Fair.
The Head of the parliamentary group of SYRIZA for issues related to investments and development argued that the current government remains inactive.
“The initial planning was the project of the Metro in Thessaloniki to be completed in 2020, except for a stop. We received the project at 30% of the cost. For some reason, the initial planning changed. The project is expected now to be completed in 2023.”
“In Greece there is great austerity”
Mr. Pappas also referred to the financial affairs of the government, emphasizing that in Greece there is great austerity, while adding that the financial state of the country is difficult.
Concerning the snap elections
SYRIZA MP referred also to the possibility of snap elections, stating that government officials are the ones who raise this issue.
“Snap elections is not an issue that we, the SYRIZA party, rose. We can see the difficulties. There is the idea of providing free housing to young couples. Why such an initiative was not included in the speech of the Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, at his speech at the Thessaloniki International Fair?”
Concerning the TV licenses
When asked about the issue of television licenses, Mr. Papas, defended the policy of the SYRIZA party, emphasizing that:
“We are the only party that made a structured assessment of the government project. The first assessment has been completed and it has been proven that all channels operate within the law. The law is applied as it should be applied.”
Left party identity
Regarding the internal reconstruction of SYRIZA, Mr. Pappas said that our decision is unanimous and we form a new identity that consists of the traditions of the left movement in Greece, while he added that “We want to persuade centrists to join our party.”
