
The strategic cooperation of the PepsiCo Hellas Group with N.U. AQUA was announced today at a meeting held at the Ministry of Development and Investment, in the presence of the Minister, Mr. Adonis Georgiadis. The aim of this important cooperation is the immediate reopening of the emblematic unit for the production and bottling of natural mineral water, in Loutraki, Corinth. The investment amounts to 20 million euros while in its full development it will exceed 55 million.
It is recalled that the factory belonged to Pepsico HBH Loutraki and closed in January 2013 due to significant financial problems faced by the American multinational in the Greek market.
As noted at the meeting, the purchasing company, N.U. AQUA with new state-of-the-art facilities and processes, is going to proceed with the production of a new natural mineral water. At the same time, PepsiCo Hellas, through its strong, nationwide commercial network, will distribute the new natural mineral water throughout the country, further enhancing its wide range of products and expanding its presence in the market and especially in the catering sector.
This cooperation will significantly strengthen the entrepreneurship of the region of Loutraki and Corinth, will create new jobs in general and is undoubtedly another vote of confidence in the prospects of the Greek economy. As all sides stressed, the foundations are being laid for a strong partnership with even greater business prospects in the near future.
The Minister of Development and Investments, Mr. Adonis Georgiadis stated: “Greece with today’s agreement PepsiCo Hellas with N.U. AQUA and the investment in the Loutraki unit, shows once again how much the page has turned. From the time when the factories in Greece, one after the other, closed, now those that closed,are opening, one after the other. I am particularly glad that as Minister of Development & Investment of the Hellenic Republic I actively helped to complete this agreement and the factory in Loutraki to move forward so that we have new jobs and greater Greek production “.
For her part, the General Manager of PepsiCo Hellas, Ms. Despina Tsangari, stressed: “This important collaboration with N.U. AQUA, gives a special developmental breath to the wider area but also to the food and beverage sector as a whole. It is undoubtedly a significant investment with multiple benefits. I would like to thank the Minister for his presence here today but also for his contribution in creating a favorable business environment. For us at PepsiCo Hellas, this is the realization of an important goal, the reopening of a historic bottling plant, where the emblematic natural mineral water HBI Loutraki was produced. Despite the financial crisis and the unprecedented conditions created by the pandemic, PepsiCo Hellas continues to implement its strategic plan having as its compass the boosting of investment and the creation of jobs both for the development and production of new products and for its upgrading and strengthening distribution network and its sales in the market “.
The President of N.U. AQUA, Mr. Dimitris Babakos, stated during the meeting: “This is an important investment and an equally important cooperation with a world leader in the field of food and beverages, with a strong presence in our country. The reopening of the bottling plant in Loutraki through the cooperation of N.U. AQUA and PepsiCo Hellas will boost the economy of the wider region by creating new jobs but will also be a living example of growth boost, which with the right steps can be achieved even in this difficult period, after the unprecedented upheavals that were brought on by the pandemic.
