The government initiatives for the relief of households and businesses through a series of measures to reduce the tax burden and address the accuracy premiered, after the submission of the relevant amendments to the Parliament.
According to the provisions of the Ministry of Finance – in addition to the increase of the tax-free limit to 800,000 euros for parental benefits – reduced VAT to 13% for gyms, dance schools, coffee served, transport and tourism by June 2022.
It is possible to pay ENFIA in six monthly installments, with the first and second installments being paid by the end of October.
According to the amendments, the way is open for subsidizing domestic gas consumers, while from October 1, electricity supply companies will be able to transfer the 9 euro discount to customers’ accounts.
Parental benefits
Increase in tax-free donations and parental benefits for first-degree relatives to 800,000 from 150,000 today.
It is for donations and parental benefits which are recommended from October 1 and concern the heir of the heir, a person with a cohabitation agreement with the heir (which was terminated upon his death, if the cohabitation lasted at least two years), first degree cations, cations second-degree blood, first-degree blood anions.
If the value of the parental donations or benefits exceeds 800,000 euros per natural person, a tax with a rate of 10% will be imposed.
VAT – Taxes – Fees
The reduction of the VAT rate from 24% to 13% in transport, coffee served, soft drinks, cinemas and tourist package is extended until June 2022. The measure normally expired on September 30.
At the same time, the VAT rate will be reduced from 24% to 13% in gyms and dance schools from October 1 to June 2022, and in addition, a VAT rate will be reduced from 13% to 6% in animal fodder.
Regarding the tax on capital accumulation, it is reduced to 0.50%.
In addition, according to the provisions, the imposition of the pay-TV fee is suspended until 30/6/2022.
Also, the imposed fees of mobile telephony subscribers are being redefined, prepaid for all at 10%.
Especially for individuals aged 15 to 29, the fees are zero with effect from January 1. The abolition of the fee concerns a number per beneficiary and will be carried out upon special request.
Earthquake victims
The measures of immediate support of the victims of the earthquake in Heraklion, Crete, through the platform arogi.gov.gr, were submitted in the form of an amendment to the Parliament.
It is envisaged to provide first aid against housing assistance, in the form of one-off emergency assistance to affected individuals and legal entities that are in or have been temporarily or permanently in a state of emergency due to the earthquake.
In particular, for damage to commercial buildings, the amount amounts to 3,000 to 14,000 euros depending on the size of the damage.
Regarding the damages to houses and other buildings of non-professional use, 3,000 to 14,000 euros.
Especially for individuals, assistance against household goods compensation from 2,000 to 6,000 euros. The total of the first aid against housing assistance cannot exceed 120,000 euros per beneficiary.
Discount on bills
The establishment of a Special Account called the Energy Transition Fund and the granting of subsidies for electricity and gas to consumers provides for the regulation of the amendment submitted to Parliament and concerns the tax and other financial announcements of the Prime Minister by the TIF.
With this provision, from October 1, the electricity supply companies will be able to transfer the 9 euro discount to the customers’ accounts.
Pursuant to Article 8, the Special Account will be managed by the RES and Guarantee of Origin (DAPEEP) Manager and will be financed by revenues from greenhouse gas emission allowance auctions, as well as from the state budget.
