Delta Air Lines is stepping up its flight program for Athens from next summer, launching a direct service to Boston Logan International Airport on May 29, 2022. In fact, the announcement was made by Delta CEO Ed Bastian in International Air Transport Association (IATA) Annual General Meeting in Boston. The demand, as it is formed in the post-Covid period, led to the expansion of the schedule of the American air carrier in our country.
Boston, as a new destination from Athens, will complement the existing, daily, direct routes to Atlanta and New York – JFK that take place during the summer. It is noted that Boston is one of the main airports of Delta from which passengers will be able to continue their journey with flights to various cities in North America and elsewhere.
The route will be operated three times a week by A330-300 aircraft and passengers will be able to choose a seat between Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort +; and Main Cabin. In all places there are personal screens that each passenger can choose the entertainment they want, while they will have the option to buy on-demand Wi-Fi, as well as a choice of meal from the menu.
“As people return to international flights, we look forward to expanding our network and offering a new, direct flight from Greece to the United States,” said Frederic Schenk, Delta’s Sales Manager for Southern Europe. “There has been a great deal of demand and offering this new route to Boston will create even closer ties between our countries, as well as add another option during the popular summer season.” “We are excited to welcome new Delta flights to Boston, which will connect visitors and travelers with exciting destinations around the world, “said Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker. “These flights to Logan Airport will allow more people to access hundreds of destinations and the global economy.”
Delta, until next summer, will operate 160 direct flights daily to 55 destinations, from Logan International Airport, an increase of more than 20% compared to its pre-pandemic rate, in October 2019. Apart from Athens, next summer Delta will add a new route to Tel Aviv, Israel.
“By next summer we will have strengthened our Boston Central Airport as demand has grown, adding about 3,800 seats a day to our previous high of 2019,” said Joe Esposito, S.V.P. – Delta Network Planning. “Boston is a fast-growing market with a booming economy, and we aim to offer our customers important options and more convenient solutions for their travel plans, along with the high-quality services and experience Delta is known for.”
