The concept of “pocket parks” is now apparently catching on in the greater Athens area, where roughly half the country’s population resides in often very congested conditions.
The latest such greenspace was unveiled in the west Athens municipality of Petroupoli, created on a previously rundown lot over just more than 1,000 square meters.
The municipality also planted more than 1,850 plants of all types, along with solar-powered lighting, park benches and a playground.
