
As part of the 9th Greek-Turkish meeting of the customs administrations of the two countries, in Istanbul, the Governor of the Independent Public Revenue Authority, George Pitsilis, met with the Deputy Minister of Commerce of Turkey, Riza Tuna Turagay.
Mr. Pitsilis, as head of the Greek delegation, informed the Turkish side on various issues of customs interest, with emphasis on the improvement and intensification of cooperation regarding the operation of customs stations at the border crossing Kipi – Ypsala, as well as the need to implement an action plan with provisions for the exchange of information, know-how and good practices. During the meeting, the specialization of the Action Plan for the cooperation of the Greek and Turkish customs authorities for 2022 was signed.
As stated by the Governor of the Independent Public Revenue Authority (AADE), George Pitsilis, “AADE, in the framework of the bilateral customs cooperation agreement with Turkey, intensifies its efforts for a systematic and effective institutional dialogue with the neighboring country, in order to improve the exchange of information. on sensitive issues, in order to combat smuggling, but also to facilitate legal trade. Special care is taken for the customs facilitation of exports as a national priority area “.
