The results of the implementation of the 3-year strategic business plan of PepsiCo Hellas for the strengthening of the business and financial position of the company are positive, after the completion of the absorption of PEPSICO HBH M. LTD by TASTY FOODS ABGE and the renaming of the latter to PepsiCo Hellas , as σηοςν in the announcement of the results of the twelve months of 2020.
According to Ms. Despina Tsangari, General Manager of PepsiCo Hellas, the strategic merger into a single organization, will contribute significantly in the near future to the direction of simplification, rationalization and better operation of the organization, management and administration of the 2 sectors, food and leisure.
In 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic and its economic impact led to rapid developments, unprecedented upheavals and recession. In an extremely unstable, difficult and uncertain external environment, the company in 2020 placed great emphasis on human resources, simplification of procedures, fast decision making and reduction of fixed costs.
Regarding the profitability results in the food sector, the gross profit for the year amounted to € 59,016,648.80 compared to € 55,978,539.62 in the year 2019. The above increase (5.43%) is mainly due to the increase that shown by sales. Sales from € 117,492,369.57 in 2019 amounted to € 120,806,889.36 in 2020, ie increased by € 3,314,519.79 and by 2.82%. The cost of sales also increased (0.45%), mainly due to the increased cost of purchasing goods (€ 27,393,035.75 compared to € 25,244,495.75 in 2019) in relation to the increase in sales. However, the increase in sales fully justifies, as mentioned above, the increase in gross profit for the year 2020. The net results before taxes (profits) amounted to € 6.9 million, -13% compared to 2019. This change is mainly due to reason for the increase in selling expenses, as well as other expenses and impairments.
It is noted that the PepsiCo Hellas Group (including the results for the year 2020 and the 2 companies) closed at € 158.4 million in sales, showing a small decrease in revenue by 2.3% compared to 2019, with the food sector increasing, while soft drinks decreased.
At the same time, it should be noted that throughout the pandemic, the Group operated in an exemplary manner, focusing on its employees and associates and primarily ensuring their safety and health. The Group retained all the jobs, while additional financial incentives were given to the people of the front line of the factory and the distribution center.
For 2021, PepsiCo Hellas expects a very significant improvement compared to 2020 in terms of its financial performance, surpassing even the level of 2019, with double-digit growth.
Strategic planning
The strategic planning of the management of PepsiCo Hellas focuses on a development course for 2022, while at the same time aims to strengthen the investments aimed at both the development and production of new products, which combine the healthiest food at affordable prices, in its further digitization, as well as and its further strengthening in promotion and sales tools.
Specifically, for 2021 and 2022, the Company plans:
a) To make even more use of the economies of scale and the commercial advantages brought about by the merger with PEPSICO-HBH.
b) The further development of existing products, but also the promotion of new ones that aim at the new needs of consumers for a healthier diet.
c) The implementation of synergies and actions to reduce its operating costs, making the most of economies of scale.
d) The further implementation of the digitization strategy in all sectors, the creation of new strong and stable collaborations (such as the one for the production and distribution of new bottled water) as well as the improvement of productivity.
e) The continuation and strengthening of the company’s social responsibility actions in 3 main axes: Healthy business development, Emphasis on the environment and Return to society.
Investing in Development
In the context of its social responsibility, but also of the essential social solidarity towards our fellow citizens who are going through difficult times, always aiming at the substantial support of the local communities, PepsiCo Hellas continues to be next to the socially vulnerable groups for another year, strengthening collaborations with recognized NGOs: “The Mission”, SOS Children’s Villages, Make-A-Wish Greece, etc., but also close to our fire-stricken fellow human beings.
As far as its people are concerned, PepsiCo Hellas continues to invest in the Development and training of their talents and skills through upskilling and reskilling programs and in addition responds to new ways of working, both through teleworking and Digitization.
At the same time, given the commitment of the Management for operation With absolute respect for the environment with the basic principle of energy saving, PepsiCo Hellas continues to carry out its activities in a way that respects the protection of the environment (continuous effort to reduce the footprint). It has incorporated appropriate processes into its activities by operating with a sense of responsibility towards the environment, adapting its business practices to issues such as the use of 100% recyclable plastic in its soft drinks, recycling, energy reduction, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and continuing education. and raising awareness of its human resources.
For her part, the General Manager of PepsiCo Hellas, Mrs. Despina Tsangari, stated: “2021 is the year of gradual de-escalation of the coronavirus pandemic and the restoration of normalcy.
The coronavirus pandemic is accelerating the formation of a new economic and social environment, dominated on the one hand by the need to tackle climate change and on the other by the simplification and rapid expansion of digital activities. In this context, PepsiCo Hellas implements its strategic business plan, through the merger of the two companies of the Group in PepsiCo Hellas -in a single organization-, taking advantage of business opportunities and strengthening its position in the Greek market. At the same time, however, with the publication of the Annual Financial Report for 2020, the company also marks its strategic goal of strengthening investments in the development of new products and increasing and upgrading collaborations with its Greek suppliers and partners.
Implementing the philosophy of PepsiCo “Winning with Purpose” in our country offers a wide range of delicious food and drinks (for example Lays, Pepsi, Lipton Ice Tea, Ruffles, Doritos, Cheetos, Quaker, Ivi, Tasty, 7UP) enjoyed by consumers in the whole country. PepsiCo Hellas has 900 employees and has a state-of-the-art production and distribution unit.
Finally, I would like to note that in the unprecedented conditions created by the pandemic, the company did not deviate from its philosophy, staying focused on retaining jobs, highlighting talents, rewarding efforts, strengthening employee relationships and ensuring the best working conditions even in a virtual environment, with new ways of working. In this way we become constantly better, turning the daily life of our people into a special experience. A big thank you to the team of PepsiCo Hellas but also to each one of them who actively support the vision of the company. After all, at PepsiCo Hellas our people are our strength “.
