
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is leaving for Glasgow today to take part and speak at the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP26).
The Greek Prime Minister is among the important leaders from most countries of the world who will participate in the Conference (COP26) such as Joe Biden, Angela Merkel, Emmanuel Macron, Mario Draghi, Pedro Sanchez, and Justin Pierre Trudeau.
Government sources state that during his intervention, on Monday at noon, Kyriakos Mitsotakis will refer to the big program of the green transition that he implements and to those that are planned by the Greek government.
In particular, it will emphasize the goals of de-lignification, the large increase of Renewable Energy Sources in energy production and the new ambitious goals that Greece has set, including the marine wind farms, the “green” islands and the innovative programs that we implement there, the initiative for ” green shipping and the protection of ecosystems and the measures taken.
The same sources state that Kyriakos Mitsotakis will also stress the plan to turn Greece into a hub for the transfer of green energy to Europe based on the recent agreement with Egypt and the talks in Saudi Arabia.
The Prime Minister will also address the broader goals to be set at European and global level in dealing with the climate crisis.
On the sidelines of the conference, the prime minister will have a series of bilateral contacts and will return to Athens in the evening.
