Within the week, a relevant legislative provision that will be passed in the Parliament, with the assistance of the Personal Data Protection Authority, will give the whole framework regarding the planning for sending sms to the mobile phones of vaccinated citizens, as stressed the Deputy Minister of Digital Government, Issues of Simplification of Procedures, George Georgantas.
Speaking to state news agency AMNA, he stressed that “in the context of preventive medicine, which we want to start and apply by those registered in the intangible prescription scheme and in view of the public health risk that is present, we try to strengthen both information and prevention.
“So, to those who are on intangible prescription and have not responded to the call for vaccination so far, we want to make a reminder, a reminder to those who have not been vaccinated about the usefulness of the vaccine,” he added.
Mr. Georgantas pointed out that messages had been sent at the beginning of the vaccination campaign, when a suggested appointment was indicated. For those who did not respond then, now they will start sending reminder sms to their mobile phones, as he characteristically said. “It is a reminder, which will be done with a relative periodicity and not on a daily basis.”
The Deputy Minister clarified that the message will indicate the usefulness of the appointment for vaccination and added that 61% of the general population has been vaccinated, while the European average is 78%.
“We use all means to persuade, to save those we can, it is an additional means”, commented Mr. Georgantas. In fact, as he mentioned, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Digital Government have announced that in the coming months in the register of intangible prescriptions there will be preventive medicine actions in relation to necessary examinations in specific age groups.
