The winter will be difficult for households, as the increase in the price of heating oil pulls uphill without a safe prediction of where it will stop.
In fact, given that winter is expected to be heavier this year than last year, it is considered certain that households will be forced to put their hand deep in their pocket in order to “warm up”.
According to the Fuel Price Observatory, the average price of heating oil has reached 1,168 euros per liter.
The price of oil in several prefectures of the country is over 1 euro and 20 cents per liter. That is, in the prefectures of Dodecanese, Evritania, Zakynthos, Heraklion, Thesprotia, Corfu, Kefallinia, Cyclades, Lassithi, Lesvos, Magnesia, Rethymno, Samos, Fokida.
It is recalled that on October 15, the distribution of heating oil began.
Natural gas
However, heating oil is cheaper than natural gas.
According to data made known by the management of the Association of Petroleum Trading Companies of Greece, heating oil is currently sold cheaper than natural gas. The difference of 20% and 40% that was valid until recently in favor of the latter has evaporated.
Heating subsidy in Mid-November
Applications for the heating allowance start on November 10, while a part of this subsidy will be given as an advance, until December 10, to those who received a heating allowance last year.
The platform for submitting applications by beneficiaries is expected to open by the beginning of November. It is noted that the amount of the heating allowance amounts to 168 million euros this year and the beneficiaries are:
– Single taxpayers or married widows or widowers who in the previous year had an annual total income of up to 14,000 euros and owned on January 1 of this year buildings and within the city plan plots with a total objective value of up to 180,000 euros.
– Married and cohabiting taxpayers who last year had an annual total family income of up to 20,000 euros and on January 1 of this year owned buildings and plots within the city plan with an objective value of up to 300,000 euros. The limits are increased for each dependent child by 3,000 euros. Thus the income limit is increased to:
– 23,000 euros for a family with one child
– 26,000 euros for a family with two children
– 29,000 euros for a family with three children.
The allowance is granted to those who meet the income and property criteria and consume heating oil or natural gas or LPG. Heating allowance is also entitled to those who use to heat firewood or biomass (pellets) under the fact that their main residence is located in a settlement with a population equal to or less than 2,500 inhabitants.
