A good year is emerging in 2021 for the Hellenic Brewery Atalanti, as it seems to be “returning” to the numbers of 2019.
According to the president of E.Z.A. Mr. Athanasios Syrianos, the brewery recovered this year around 40% of the losses it had compared to 2019. So 2021 will close quite close to the performance of 2019.
Specifically, sales are expected to reach 34 million euros and EBITDA to about 5 million euros.
In the total beer market, the data for August-September 2021 show growth of 15.6% compared to last year.
He himself expressed optimism for the new year, emphasizing that E.Z.A. claims the role of national beer champion.
It is noted that in recent years the company in the context of its development planning has implemented investments of 30 million euros.
These include the € 10 million investment in the new glass bottle line, which went into operation in July 2020, and the € 5 million investment in the aluminum box line, which was delivered in 2015.
This year the brewery has allocated funds of 2 million euros to the brewery and a new boiler.
Interest in carbonated water bottling
The interest of E.Z.A. for the bottling of carbonated natural mineral water remains active and in fact has proceeded to the preparation of a relevant study for the utilization of a source it has identified.
In the future plans of the administration is the entry into the process of malting, something that will be decided in the near future.
Finally, regarding the plans for the production of hops, the Atalanti brewery has created an experimental crop in an area of 4 acres, with the prospect of further development.
Concerns about raw materials
The international price increases in energy, raw materials and packaging materials create intense concerns in the Hellenic Brewery Atalanti.
There is no possibility of absorbing the price increases, Mr. Syrianos noted and the increase of the final consumer price is considered inevitable. However, it will not exceed 3%.
