The Sani / Ikos group, having Crete for years in its development plans, announced the acquisition of a total area of over 200 thousand sq.m. in the bay of Kissamos, Chania, with the aim of creating the first hotel complex under the brand of Ikos Resorts on the island.
“The development of the luxurious five-star resort, Ikos Kissamos, will give a significant boost to the quality tourism of the region of Chania and Western Crete, a rapidly growing destination, with significant benefits for the local community, employment and economy. At the same time, it will strengthen the image not only of the region but also of Crete as a whole, as a flagship of Greek tourism,” the hotel group stated in an announcement.
Investment of 125 million euros
The new Ikos Kissamos will have a total of 400 rooms, bungalows and villas spanning a 600-meter-long seafront. Its construction will begin in 2023 and its operation is expected in May 2025. For the creation of the single area of 200 thousand sq.m., the group acquired and consolidated more than 30 individual plots. The total investment of the Sani / Ikos group in Crete will exceed 125 million euros while more than 750 new jobs will be created.
Properties in Greece and Iberia
The Sani / Ikos group continues to implement its investment plans, with the acquisition of new properties in excellent locations in Greece and the Iberian Peninsula, as well as the expansion of its existing hotel units. In August 2021, it reached an agreement with the Spanish group Roxa for the acquisition of Blau Porto Petro in Mallorca, with the aim of upgrading it to a luxury five-star resort, which will operate in May 2023 under the name Ikos Porto Petro, while acquiring of Alfamar Beach Resort in the Algarve, Portugal, the group will operate the new Ikos Cortesia in May 2024, after complete reconstruction and expansion.
At the same time in Corfu, the construction of the new Ikos Odisia has already started after the acquisition of the former Club Med in order to operate with the beginning of the tourist season of 2023. In addition, the Sani / Ikos group is proceeding with the development of its existing hotels, with the further expansion of both Ikos Andalusia in Marbella and Porto Sani at Sani Resort in Halkidiki.
2,600 jobs
Through its investment plan, the Sani / Ikos group contributes to the strengthening of local communities, the creation of new jobs, but also the promotion of quality tourism throughout the Mediterranean. From the above development moves of the group, it is expected that a total of more than 2,600 new jobs will be created in the next five years.
