
The President of HELMEPA, Ms. Semiramis Paliou was honored with a significant international award.
Ms. Paliou was awarded the Seatrade Maritime Award Winners 2021 as the “Newcomer of the Year Award” for innovative initiatives for safe, efficient and environmentally friendly shipping, at a time when environmental protection and sustainable development are a global priority.
Ms. Semiramis Paliou, daughter of the shipowner Symeon Palios, is the CEO of Diana Shipping Inc. since 2021. She is also president of the Hellenic Association for the Protection of the Marine Environment (HELMEPA), since June 29, 2020, when he was elected 14th president of the Union.
She is the first female president in the history of HELMEPA. He was elected for the first time to the board of directors of the association in 2018 and has always dealt with the issues of protection of the marine environment.
