The ships will remain moored in the ports of the whole country from tomorrow, Wednesday 10 November, in the morning and for 48 hours. The administration of the Panhellenic Maritime Federation (PNO), during its meeting on 27-10-2021, declared a 48-hour nationwide strike on the passenger ships Mediterranean-transports/ tourist-ferries) starting from tomorrow Wednesday 10-11-2021 at 06:01 until Friday 12-11-2021 at 06:01, with the prospect of escalation.
In an announcement, the Sailors’ Federation speaks of “complete reluctance and sterile negative behavior of employers in order to draw up a new Collective Bargaining Agreement for the years 2020 and 2021 with real and substantial increases, but also to staff ships based on modern and real needs.”
The federation adds, “Despite the constant pressures and protests, the already existing problems faced by the seafarers’ sector are not only not resolved but continue to accumulate daily, culminating in a series of anti-labor laws under the pretext of the pandemic and the continued implementation of law 4150/2013 for the reduced and special compositions on the Mediterranean and coastal passenger ships, of Law 4714/2020, which intervenes in the internal autonomy and operation of the unions, the permanent violation of the Collective Labor Agreements and especially in terms of employment hours and the payment of accrued salaries as well as the continuing unemployment in the sector, without any measures being taken for its recovery “.
According to PNO, during the strike, pre-rallies will be held at 05:30 in the area inside the port, opposite the power station, while the strike rally will take place on 11-11-2021 in the same area at 10:30.
