The task of the Advisory Committee will be to provide scientific support regarding the solution of problems faced by the Greek fisheries sector as decided during the teleconference attended by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Fisheries Mr. Christiana Kalogirou, the Head of the Directorate General of Fisheries Mrs. Marina Petrou and the representative of the Managing Authority EPALTH Mr. Stamatios Kampolis.
During the meeting, the Commission’s work agenda was drawn up, including the assessment of fish stocks, the collection and management of data in the fisheries sector and the adoption of regulatory measures to conserve fish stocks to make fishing activity sustainable.
Participants highlighted the negative impact of factors such as the effects of pollution and climate change on fisheries (eg phytoplankton in the Thracian Sea).
Finally, Mr. Kedikoglou, after thanking the participants for their offer, invited them to assist in the fight for the protection of the Greek seas and to contribute to the support of fishermen.
