For four days, the public will have the opportunity to enjoy at the Zappeion Megaron (19-22 / 11) “illustrated trips” to History and Culture using Philately as a vehicle during the Pan-European Exhibition NOTOS 2021 and hundreds of important exhibits that will be presented for the first time in our country.
With the participation of exhibitors from more than 35 countries, visitors will have the opportunity to see objects of high historical and artistic value as well as unique exhibits such as the printing plates of the first Greek Stamp, the Great Heads of Hermes,
Also in the hall of “Precious” one of the undisputed protagonists will be the most “coveted” and world famous Solferino, the wrong color 40 lepta face value which is the “Golden Fleece” not only of Greek but also of World Philately.
“The Army of Morias” of the French Expeditionary Force, 6 months after the Battle of Navarino, is revived through the letters of the protagonists. The importance of transporting mail by balloons during the six-month Siege of Paris (1870-1871) by the Prussian Troops is presented in a fascinating exhibit. The tour of the visitors is done through a number of other exhibits that refer to the “Postal History of Pontus until 1923”, the “Economic History of the Jews of Germany from 1800-1940”, the “Architecture in Moscow”, the history of footwear in Fascinating exhibit “On Foot”, the “FIFA Cup” of particular interest to football fans as well as the excellent recording of Pelion with the Mountzouris narrow gauge railway through the lens and postcards of the great artist-photographer Stefanos Stournaras.
Visitors to NOTOS 2021 will get to know and be entertained through images and narratives of lesser-known aspects of Culture.
