Greek Tourism Minister Vassilis Kikilias on Friday announced that his ministry will unveil, in the next 10 days, a winter tourism subsidy program for eligible households.

The extra welfare spending, according to the minister, aims to support winter holiday and vacation destinations, which in Greece are primarily on the mountainous mainland.

In a television appearance, Kikilias, up until recently the health minister amid a year and a half of the Covid-19 pandemic, expressed satisfaction with an extended tourism period in the country, adding that some islands are still hosting bookings.
