
The Hellenic Statistical Authority announces that in October 2021, 14,698 road motor cars (both new and used from abroad) were put into circulation for the first time, recording an 11.5% increase compared with the corresponding month of 2020 when the number of road motor cars was 13,181. In October 2020, a 17.6% decrease had been observed in comparison with the corresponding month of 2019 . A total number of 7,250
new cars were put into circulation in October 2021 compared with 7,443 in October 2020, recording a 2.6% decrease.
The new motorcycles over 50cc (both new and used from abroad) that were put into circulation for the first time in October 2021 amounted to 3,598, against 3,391 in 2020, thus recording a 6.1% increase. In October 2020, a 3.8% decrease had been observed in comparison with the corresponding month of 2019 (Table 1, Graph 4). Out of the above motorcycles 3,286 were new, while the corresponding figure in October 2020 was 3,286, recording a 7.0% increase.
During the period January – October 2021, 170,262 road motor cars (both new and used from abroad) were put into circulation for the first time, representing an increase of 22.0% compared to the corresponding period of 2020 when the number of road motor cars was 139,594. During the period January – October 2020 a decrease of 25.9% had been observed in comparison with the corresponding period of 2019 (Table 3, Graphs 6,7). Out of the above number of road motor cars that were put into circulation, from January to October 2021, 97,107 were new, while the corresponding number during the respective period of 2020 was 72,323, recording an increase of 34.3%.
During the period January – October 2021 the circulation of new motorcycles over 50cc (both new and used from abroad) amounted to 43,468 against 33,761 in 2020, thus representing a 28.8% increase. A decrease of 10.9% had been observed during the period January – October 2020 in comparison with the corresponding period of 2019 (Table 3, Graphs 6,7). A total number of 39,603 new motorcycles were put into circulation, from January to October 2021, compared with 31,010 during the corresponding period of 2020, recording a 27.7% increase.
