Tourist promotion actions carried out by the Municipality of Astypalea have lately taken on the characteristics of a blitz. Utilizing the digital booth of the municipality’s tourism consultants at Israel’s largest virtual international tourism exhibition IMTM 2021, a series of contacts for the benefit of the destination were made with bloggers, professionals, TV presenters and travel writers writing for Israeli media such as Ynet.co. il and Channel 13. This was followed by the participation of the municipality in the digital version of the international tourism exhibition WTM 2021.

Environmental innovations, historical monuments and natural beauty have impressed tourism photographers, influencers and journalists working with established international media, such as the Daily Telegraph and the BBC. The circle of contacts was then expanded with the active presence of the municipality in the digital roadshow organized by the EOT China office, providing the opportunity to a certain number of interested parties from the Greek side to take part in the remarkable action. The municipality presented the tourist “product” of Astypalea to travel agencies of the Chinese market, utilizing the audiovisual material in Chinese that had been produced after a recent visit of successful influencers and ambassadors of Greek tourism Sofia and Marianna Erotokritou to the “Butterfly” of the Aegean.
At the same time, the participation of the Mayor of Astypalea, Nikos Komineas, in the summit of the United Nations Climate Change – COP26 in Glasgow, which was aimed at presenting the destination and informing about the course of the island’s energy transformation. “The end of the 2021 season finds us more optimistic, but not complacent, as the pandemic and its aftermath will continue to cause shocks. “Our priority is the implementation of targeted promotion actions in Greece and abroad, which will strengthen the extroversion of the destination” Astypalea “and will promote its uniqueness”, said Mr. Komineas.
