The Thrace Group announces the publication of the 3rd in a row Sustainable Development Report.
The Report, which covers the year 2020 and is available on the Group’s Website, describes in detail its approach and performance to the Sustainable Development issues that emerged from the substantive study, presents its contribution to the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and has been compiled in accordance with the recognized and internationally valid GRI reference standard and the ESG Information Disclosure Guide of the Athens Stock Exchange.
With regard to environmental issues, emphasis is placed on the provision of innovative and sustainable products in the context of the circular economy, on reducing waste, maximizing the possibilities of new waste treatment and recycling, but also on recording, monitoring and continuously reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Also, having integrated the possibilities of the circular economy in its business strategy, the Group created the IN THE LOOP platform (www.in-the-loop.gr) which aims to utilize the used plastic to create new sustainable products.
On social issues, emphasis is placed on creating and ensuring employment, defending human rights at work, ensuring the health, safety and well-being of employees, as well as ensuring the quality of health and safety of customers. In order to achieve a responsible supply chain, evaluation and careful selection of suppliers is carried out. The contribution of the Social Center STAVROS CHALIORIS (www.kksxalioris.gr) with educational, cultural, recreational and social activities also proves to be important.
At the same time, emphasis is placed on the creation of financial value and the financial performance of the Group, on responsible corporate governance and ensuring business ethics and compliance, as well as on ensuring business continuity and preparedness in emergencies.
The Group’s priority remains the planning of actions that will help further reduce the environmental footprint, giving special importance to the effective management of business continuity and building trust between all stakeholders. The Chairman of the Board Mr. Konstantinos Halioris stated characteristically that “In our effort for a sustainable future, we always set ambitious goals in relation to our business model”.
Respectively, the CEO Mr. Dimitris Malamos explains that “The pandemic acted as an accelerator of trends, showing us that the rapid adaptation to the external environment is a catalyst for the success of the Group’s business activities.”
