
Industrial production increased by 8% in November 2021 compared to the corresponding month of 2020, according to data published by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).
The average General Index of Industrial Production for the period January – November 2021, compared to the corresponding index for the period January – November 2020, showed an increase of 10.0%.
On a monthly basis, the seasonally adjusted General Index of Industrial Production for November 2021, compared to the corresponding index for October 2021, showed a decrease of 1.2%.
The index of the sector of other manufacturing activities recorded the largest percentage increase, according to relevant information, while the index of the sector of machinery and equipment manufacturing recorded the largest percentage decrease in November 2021 compared to October 2021. When comparing its indices November 2021 with the corresponding indicators of November 2020, the largest percentage increase was recorded in the clothing sector, while the largest percentage decrease was recorded in the coal and lignite mining, crude oil and gas extraction, and mining support activities.
The increase of the General Industrial Index adjusted for the number of working days by 8.0% in November 2021, compared to the corresponding index of November 2020, came from the following changes in the indices of the sub-industrial sectors:
As concerns the increase:
• By 9.1% of the Manufacturing Index. The increase was mainly due to the changes in the indicators of the double-digit sectors: manufacturing of clothing, leather and leather industry, furniture, other manufacturing activities, manufacturing of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers, production of tobacco products, printing and printing media, coke production and oil refining products.
• By 5.9% of the Mining – Quarrying Index. Changes in the indicators of the double-digit sectors contributed to this increase: other mines – quarries, mining.
• By 4.7% of the Electricity Supply Index.
• By 2.9% of the Water Supply Index.
