
It’s now the turn for the islands of the western Cyclades to be connected with the mainland electricity transmission system.
The so-called Phase IV for the Cyclades is being implemented by the Independent Electricity Transmission Operator.
More specifically, IPTO announced the two tenders for the large project totaling more than 300 million euros of the underwater interconnection of the islands of Thira, Milos, Folegandros, and Serifos with Lavrio.
The first tender for which the interested companies are invited to submit bids concerns the construction of the GIS type substation of 150 Kilovolts Medium Voltage of Folegandros and Milos as well as the corresponding substation of Serifos. The total budget of the projects of the new substations amounts to 43.5 million euros. The tender concerns the design, supply of equipment and installation of substations.
The second tender concerns the design, supply and installation of underground and submarine cables for the electrical interconnection of the islands. The budget of the project amounts to 265 million euros. The total length of the submarine cables is 353.2 km and the underground is 19.6 km.
The deadline for submission of tenders is February 8.
The project of the fourth phase of the electrical interconnection of the Cyclades has been included in the Fund for Recovery and Durability. Funding from Community funds is € 165 million.
The electrical interconnection of the western Cyclades is expected to be completed in 2024.
