One step before the unveiling of the financial offers that will judge the final winner is the competition for FlyOver in Thessaloniki. The four candidate groups reach the final stage of the tender for the Public-Private Sector Contract (PPP) of the New Eastern Ring Road of Thessaloniki, with a budget of 373 million euros.
The project ran until today at an unprecedented pace for the Greek data, if we consider that it went through the crisis of the Interministerial PPP Committee on July 15, 2020. Just two months later (September 11, 2020) the International Competition was approved through the Competitive Dialogue process. .
Having received just an extension of less than a month, the competition changed track one day before the curtain of last year with the submission of binding offers from the four participating teams: AVAX – Mytilineos, INTRAKAT, AKTOR Concessions and GEK TERNA.
After two rounds, the first phase of the competitive dialogue was completed without the usual delays so far, which is attributed to the good preparation and sufficient maturation of the competition. The appointment of the temporary contractor is just around the corner, as long as there are no court delays, while the start of work is scheduled within the year.
By decision of the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Mr. Costas Karamanlis, all four candidate teams that submitted binding bids for FlyOver, proceed to the next phase of the competition. Files A ‘- Documents of Participation and B’ – Technical Offeŕ were deemed complete and admissible. As shown in the text of the decision, the four suitors were considered equal by the Tender Committee in terms of their technical offer. So now the only step left is to open the financial files of the competition.
The project of the New Eastern Peripheral Road of Thessaloniki concerns the construction of an Elevated Expressway, approximately 13.5 km long, four of which are on a continuous bridge, with four lanes, two plus an emergency lane (LEA), in each direction.
The now well-known FlyOver will be a modern air highway, which will provide a final solution to the traffic problem of Thessaloniki, will make transportation faster, cheaper, but also safer.
