In the spring of 2023, the first Mandarin Oriental hotel in Greece opens. The 5-star hotel of the international chain Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group will operate on the southwest coast of the Peloponnese, in the region of Costa Navarino.
Specifically, the new Mandarin Oriental hotel, Costa Navarino will be located in the Navarino Bay area, one of the integrated development areas of Costa Navarino in Messinia, with a total area of 1,400 acres, overlooking the historic bay of Navarino, according to a relevant announcement.
The luxury beachfront resort will include 99 rooms, including 48 cave villas with private pools, large terraces with unobstructed sea views, and five restaurants and bars. The architectural design of the hotel has been supervised by the Alexandros N. Tombazis Research Office and the K-Studio, according to the principles of sustainable development of Costa Navarino. The design harmoniously combines the planted roofs that fully harmonize with the natural topography of the area, with the use of local materials.
The hotel will have state-of-the-art spa and fitness facilities of 1,500 sq.m. A characteristic feature of the spa will be the 25m swimming pool, extending in open and closed spaces, overlooking the sea. The signature wellness treatments of Mandarin Oriental will play a leading role in the spa, in specially designed indoor and outdoor areas.
“We are very happy to open our first hotel in Greece, in Costa Navarino, and we look forward to sharing with our guests this unique combination offered by the area, with its unspoilt landscapes, olive groves, endless beaches and authentic Greek culture “, said James Riley, CEO of Mandarin Oriental Group. “We are happy to work with TEMES, the group that created Costa Navarino, an ever-growing tourist destination.”
“The Mandarin Oriental Group is recognized for providing exceptional hospitality services and unique experiences in some of the most unique locations around the world”, said Achilleas V. Konstantakopoulos, President of TEMES SA “We are proud that the Group will bring its know-how to the hospitality industry for the first time in Greece. “This development marks the further development of Costa Navarino, with the aim of establishing it among the top international destinations that one wants to visit and live there.”
The Navarino Bay area already houses The Bay Course 18-hole golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones II, as well as the award-winning Bay Clubhouse overlooking Navarino Bay, which blends harmoniously with the lush landscape.
Guests of the Mandarin Oriental Costa Navarino will also be able to experience a wealth of experiences from the rest of the destination. They will have access to a wide variety of sports activities such as cycling, hiking, climbing, tennis, water sports, and golf at Costa Navarino’s other three signature courts. They will also have the opportunity to enjoy fine dining and leisure activities at the Navarino Dunes and Navarino Waterfront.
Finally, the Mandarin Oriental, Costa Navarino will be located next to Navarino Agora, an open market with selected shops, street food, open-air cinema, as well as a variety of local and authentic experiences and events, from morning to night.
