The Minister of Tourism, Vassilis Kikilias, spoke about the course of tourism until today and what are the forecasts for the summer season on the show “Society Hour MEGA”.
As he mentioned, the ministry made a tourism campaign all year round in Greece.
“Major travel agents are asking for a 30 to 50% increase in bookings,” the minister said.
Asked about the forecasts for this year compared to 2019, Mr. Kikilias said that instead of the beginning of May, the tourist season will start this year, on March 1st.
Regarding domestic tourism, Mr. Kikilias stressed that small and medium enterprises will be supported very strongly this year and “there will be holidays for all” wallets “in beautiful destinations”, the minister added.
Regarding the devaluation of the Turkish pound, and the competition in tourism with Turkey, Vassilis Kikilias pointed out that the most important criterion for traveling this year is safety, a criterion held by Greece.
Finally, the Minister of Tourism did not fail to address the issue of fan violence, stressing that a tough legal framework must be implemented.
