Towards the end of May, the offers of the candidate contractors for the port of Alexandroupolis will open. This was said by the Minister of Shipping and Island Policy, Giannis Plakiotakis, after his meeting with the administration of the Alexandroupolis Port Authority.
As the competent minister stated in relation to the tender, “we are in the second phase of the tender process for the development of the port. It is expected that by the end of May the offers will open and we will have a final contractor and by the end of the year the process will be completed and the ownership status will change. The government from the first moment moved with the right strategy, solved chronic problems of the port and the specific strategy was confirmed with the participation of four large investment groups “.
Mr. Plakiotakis also noted that “the privileged, geostrategic, and geopolitical role of the port in Alexandroupolis, combined with the possibility of combined transport, is the best guarantee for the use of the port as a gateway to the eastern Mediterranean and the Balkans. At the same time, the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis is a guarantee that the development of the port of Alexandroupolis will provide significant benefits for both the local economy and the local community. ”
Mr. Plakiotakis visited the Alexandroupolis Port Authority on the occasion of his presence today in Samothrace, where the inauguration ceremony of the new floating ambulance that is part of the fleet of the Greek Coast Guard will take place.
