Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with US Vice-President Kamala Harris on the sidelines of the 58th Munich Security Conference (MSC) on Saturday, with various bilateral issues discussed, according to Greek government sources.
Mitsotakis briefed the US delegation on his government’s intent to table the protocol of amendment to a US-Greece Mutual Defense Cooperation Agreement (MDCA) to Parliament for ratification in the coming period.
This amendment was signed by Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken last October in Washington D.C.
Sources added that both sides also discussed the prospect for even deeper cooperation in the defense sector, as provided under MDCA’s provisions.
Mitsotakis also didn’t miss an opportunity to again bring up official Turkey’s escalating provocations in the eastern Mediterranean, as Athens has strenuously maintained, and the destabilizing effect that this causes in the wider region.
Finally, developments regarding the fluid situation in Ukraine were discussed.
