With the positive response of the local communities, the Eurobank initiative for the demographic issue is being implemented through the program “Forward for the family”, which started in June 2021.
The program provides, among other things, the support of families in remote and remote parts of the country, namely the remote Evros, the islands of the Northeast Aegean and the Dodecanese up to Kastelorizo.
More specifically, the corporate social responsibility network of the initiative is developed along five pillars to support the family and reverse the low birth rate, in collaboration with recognized bodies, such as the NGO Apostoli of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens, the Be-Live Association and the Union Together for the child.
Among the actions is the implementation of a study on “Demographic problem in Greece: Challenges and policy proposals”. The study, fully funded by Eurobank, is implemented by reputable scientists and collaborators of the Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research (IOBE) and is expected to be completed in the coming months.
The aim is to record the critical aspects of the demographic issue and how it is expected to affect aspects of the economy and society, employment, education, health and insurance in the coming years.
In total, since the launch of the initiative in the summer of 2021:
With the financial support of Eurobank, five informative missions have been carried out by Be-Live in Alexandroupolis, Orestiada, Samos, Fourni and Kastelorizo on the issue of infertility and on the support that Be-Live can offer to those who choose to follow the route of in vitro fertilization but do not have the necessary financial means. As a result of these missions, two pregnancies and in addition four in vitro fertilization procedures are underway, for which Eurobank, through its donation to Be-Live, covers the full range of costs of medication, blood tests, fetal ultrasound, monitoring and all hospital expenses until delivery.
Within the framework of the Initiative, the Bank cooperates and financially supports the NGO Together for the Child. Since the launch of the Initiative, the 11525 line has received more than 2,000 calls for advisory support, of which at least one third had a recurring frequency, demonstrating the substance of the service through the beneficiaries’ trust in the Union. At the same time, the specialized psychologists of the Union Together for the Child have conducted four (4) lifelong psychoeducational seminars in Didymoteicho and Orestiada, with a large participation of young parents and teachers.
In 2021, Eurobank supported the operation of the Child Care and Education Center “DIMITREION”, an initiative of the NGO Mission for the Municipality of Moschato – Tavros. “In DIMITREION” they tutor, are creatively employed and feed children 5 – 12 years old who come from vulnerable families. In addition, the Mission has already sent a significant number of baby packages to families in Evros and to very small islands in the North Aegean and Dodecanese, applying income criteria, which are regularly re-evaluated based on local needs and the overall progress of the Program.
Finally, through the Eurobank Branch Network that serves the geographical areas of the Program, bank insurance products with social targeting and preferential terms are available to families who will have / have had a child after April 1, 2021. Among them, the free child health insurance for 2 years for diagnostic examinations, visits to doctors and airlifting in emergencies, but also the possibility of obtaining a mortgage for a first or main residence with a reduced interest rate. In addition, the savings account Megalono, also with a preferential interest rate and with the first payment to the child’s account from the Bank (from € 50 to € 150).
